President of Statistics Poland

Dominik Rozkrut has been the President of Statistics Poland since 2016. PhD Rozkrut is a member of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC). He was elected Chair of the ESS Partnership Group (PG) for 2020-2021; currently he is also chairing the PG Task Force on access to privately-held data and is a member of the PG TF on ESS Innovations. In March 2021, he was appointed a member of the European Commission expert group on Facilitating the Use of New Data Sources for Official Statistics. He is a member of the OECD Committee on Statistics and Statistics Policy (CSSP) and serves as CSSP Bureau Vice-Chair since 2020. Moreover, he is a member of the UNECE Conference of European Statisticians (CES) and holds a Conference Bureau Vice-Chair function as well as participates in work of UNECE High-Level Group on Modernisation of Official Statistics. At the UN level, he represents Poland in the UN Statistical Commission. He also works in the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics (UN-CEBD), the UN Friends of the Chair Group on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics. He co-chairs the UN Data Stewardship Working Group and represents the Region of Eastern Europe in the UN High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for statistics for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB). Starting from 2021 he became a member of the ISI-Committee on Agricultural Statistics (ISI-CAS). In 2021, he was nominated for 2021-2023 as the President-Elect and 2023-2025 as the President of the International Association for Official Statistics (IAOS). PhD Rozkrut's career began at the Department of Statistics and Econometrics at the University of Szczecin. At the same time, he also worked as a member of a market risk management team at a commercial bank. He joined official statistics in 2007 and served as Director of a regional branch, acting as project manager for numerous research and development projects. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Szczecin, where he received his Ph.D. in statistics and econometrics. He completed an internship at the University of Massachusetts, Lappeenranta University of Technology, and UNU-MERIT in Maastricht. PhD Rozkrut is a member of the Main Council of the Polish Statistical Association, member of the Committee of Statistics and Econometrics and the Committee on Demographic Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Jiri Strouhal gained his PhD in the field of accounting in 2005 at the University of Economics and Business Prague (Czechia). He worked there at Faculty of Finance and Accounting (2005-2011) and Faculty of Business Administration (2012-2016), where he was a program director of CEMS Master in International Management. Since 2017 he is a full professor at the Department of Finance and Accounting of Skoda Auto University (Czechia) where he also acts as a program director of Business Economics and Managerial Informatics. From 2022 he is also a head of accounting research group of TalTech School of Business and Governance in Tallinn (Estonia). He is a professional consultant in the field of derivatives reporting, hedge accounting and interpretation of financial statements which are also his research topics. Between 2011 - 2021 he served as a President of the Association of Czech Professional Accountants. Jiří is author or co-author of more than 30 professional books (without re-edition) and 100+ research papers. Lastly, he is an author of currently run certification scheme for Czech professional accountants

José-María Montero is Professor of Applied Economics-Statistics at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) and Director of the International Academic Council of Exponential Education, which includes, among other personalities, three Nobel Laureates in Economics. Professor Montero is the President of the International Association of Applied Economics ASEPELT, advisor of the International Association for Sustainable Economics and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, research fellow at the Athenian Policy Forum (York University, U.K.), member of the External Committee of the 'Lawrence Klein University Institute', and honorary life member of the International Atlantic Economic Society, among other activities. He also served as patron of the Philipe Cousteau Foundation (2021-2023).

Xiu-Mei Fu

Dr. Xiu-Mei Fu is a Professor, doctoral supervisor of Economics School at Ocean University of China. She received her Ph.D. degree in the development and management of marine bio-resources from Ocean University of China, Qingdao in 2008. From January 2000 to February 2002, she studied for environment and resource science as a visiting scholar at University of Duesseldorf, Germany. Her research interests include the protective development and utilization of marine medicinal bio-resources, the transformation of marine biomedical achievements, and industrial innovative development. She is a standing member of the Marine Bioengineering Committee of Chinese Oceanography Association, a member of the Marine Economic Branch of the Chinese Oceanography Association, and a member of the Association of Shandong Oceanology and Limnology Special Committee, China. Dr. Fu has been in charge of more than 10 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation projects and National Social Science Foundation projects. She has published more than 80 papers in reputed journals and 3 monographs on marine bio-resources and environment, marine regional economy, and marine biomedical industry as well as marine fishery.

Gema Fernandez-Aviles Calderon

Gema Fernández-Avilés is Professor of Applied Economics (Statistics) at the University of Castilla-La Mancha, Spain. Prof. Fernández-Avilés’ research focuses mainly on economics, data science, spatial and spatio-temporal statistics, air pollution control and real estate price forecasting. Her doctoral thesis was awarded as the best doctoral thesis on Regional Economics in the Community of Madrid in 2010. She is director of the Master in Data Science and Business Analytics (with R software) and president of the R-Quijote Association. She has recently co-edited the book “Fundamentos de la ciencia de datos con R”.

Marek Gruszczyński

Marek Gruszczyński is a Professor Emeritus at the SGH Warsaw School of Economics, affiliated with the Institute of Econometrics. He served as Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations at SGH from 2012 to 2016 and was formerly the director of the Canadian Executive MBA program at SGH. His areas of expertise include applied econometrics, microeconometrics, time series forecasting, empirical corporate finance, fundamental analysis, and corporate governance. He is the author of numerous textbooks, articles and monographs, including the book Empirical Corporate Finance. Financial Microeconometrics (2012, in Polish), which received the prestigious “Beta” award. His other book, Models and Forecasts of Qualitative Variables in Finance and Banking (2002, in Polish), was awarded a ministerial prize. His recent book, Financial Microeconometrics: A Research Methodology in Corporate Finance and Accounting, was published by Springer in 2020 and received a ministerial prize in 2022.Professor Gruszczyński has also advised on several privatization and restructuring projects for Polish companies and served on the Board of Directors of Pekao SA, a leading Polish bank. He is a member of several editorial boards, including Central European Journal of Economic Modelling and Econometrics, Gospodarka Narodowa. The Polish Journal of Economics (Editor-in-Chief, 2017–2023), South African Journal of Business Management, and Bank i Kredyt (2009–2017).

Paweł Miłobędzki

Paweł Miłobędzki

Paweł Miłobędzki holds an MSc in Econometrics and a PhD and PhD Hab in Economics from the University of Gdańsk (Poland), as well as a Professorship in Social Sciences from the President of Poland. He is a member of the Committee on Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences and a Professor of Economics at the Department of Econometrics, University of Gdańsk. Previously, he served as a Professor of Economics and the Head of the Management Department at the Gdynia Maritime University (1996–2005), Professor of Economics and the Head of the Econometrics Department at the University of Gdańsk (2005–2013), and as an expert for Poland’s National Science Centre. He was an editor-in-chief of Statistical Review, a quarterly journal of Statistics Poland (2019–2024). His research areas concern asset pricing, term structure of interest rates, and market microstructure. He authored papers published in Economics in Transition, European Journal of Finance, Econometrics, Argumenta Oeconomica, Ekonomista, Economics and Law, and Statistical Review. He has contributed to monographs in finance and financial economics published by Edward Elgar and Springer
